A child's bedroom is where they sleep, play, learn and dream. The right wallpaper can turn four plain walls into a little world of their own. Here are eight themes children love, with tips on choosing a design that lasts.
1. World maps
A world map wall is decorative and educational. Younger children enjoy maps filled with animals and landmarks; older kids can grow into political maps with country names. See our kids map wallpaper.
2. Outer space
Planets, rockets, astronauts and stars are a favorite for curious minds. Space murals work for toddlers and teens alike. Explore space wallpaper.
3. Safari and jungle animals
Lions, giraffes, elephants and monkeys create a warm, adventurous atmosphere. Soft watercolor versions suit nurseries; brighter designs suit playrooms.
4. Woodland and forest
Foxes, owls, bears and pine trees bring a calm, natural feel – a great gender-neutral choice.
5. Rainbows and clouds
Soft rainbows, clouds and balloons are cheerful without being overwhelming. Pastel tones keep a nursery restful.
6. Under the sea
Whales, waves and colorful fish make a peaceful, dreamy room – and pair well with blue and white furniture.
7. Dinosaurs
A prehistoric mural is a guaranteed hit with dinosaur fans and makes a great feature wall behind the bed.
8. Sports
Soccer, basketball and graffiti-style designs suit older kids and teens who want a room that feels more grown-up.
Tips for choosing kids room wallpaper
- Think about age: a design that is too babyish may need replacing in a few years. Maps, forests and space themes tend to last longer.
- Choose one feature wall: a mural on the wall behind the bed gives impact while keeping the room calm for sleep.
- Go removable: peel and stick wallpaper makes it easy to change the theme as your child grows.
- Match the mood: soft, muted colors for sleep spaces; brighter, bolder designs for playrooms.
